Mike VanWyngarden, PA-C

Mike VanWyngarden joined Colorado Surgical Affiliates in September of 2022. Born and raised in Holland, Michigan, Mike attended Hope College and graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Biology in July of 2016. Soon after he made his way to Colorado Mesa University, where he excelled and completed his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies in May of 2022.

His education has shown him that providing outstanding care to a multitude of different people is an incredible opportunity that every PA gets to revel in. This is a goal he strives to meet daily. He is committed to showing compassion to every individual in any way he can and works to practice this not only in his career but in his day-to-day life as well.

Mike is passionate about providing excellent patient care and working cohesively as a part of a medical team. Not only is he looking forward to working closely with patients in the hospital in acute care settings but is also eager to assist in surgery on the trauma service. What he enjoys most is helping patients understand more about their own health and helping them feel comfortable with the medical care they receive.

In Mike’s free time, he loves to ski, mountain bike, hike, and do woodworking. He enjoys spending time with his Fiancé, family, and friends in the area. They take advantage of all Grand Junction’s outdoor activities and appreciate what the area has to offer.

In addition to Mike’s career, he feels that it is important to give back to the community. He believes you can show your commitment to the local area and its people outside of work through volunteering. He has spent quite a bit of his free time volunteering in the Emergency Department at Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora as well as the Good Samaritan Clinic here in Grand Junction. In addition to this, he has also worked with foster kids in the area to play games with them and participate in local events like trash pickups.

Being a PA is something Mike is very passionate about. He is grateful to have a direct hand in patient healing and to have the opportunity to participate directly in many people's lives in a very important and influential way.
